I call first hold!

Last week, Ashley was talking to Eden's Grandmommy and mentioned that we might be able to meet them halfway between Baton Rouge and Jackson for a visit during the weekend. Ashley knew it had been nearly  a month since Eden's Granddaddy had held his grandbaby and knew he was missing her. Her mom's reponse, "Yes, your daddy can't stand it. He hasn't seen Eden in 3 weeks." So, we made the arrangement - drive over to McComb and meet them for a dinner and a visit for a few hours. After some intense negotiation it was decided. The time - 5:00. The place - Piccadilly. The mission - get to hold a beautiful grandbaby.

Come to find out, when they pulled into the parking lot, Chip turned to Christy and said, "I call first hold." Ashley and I have heard of calling shotgun, first bite of a shared sandwhich, and even dibs on the bathroom after a long road trip. But, this was a first.

Although Eden ran to her Grandmommy first, he eventually got his hold. And a second. And several after that. We spent a few hours in McComb, most of them walking around the mall adjacent to the restaurant.

Toward the end of our vist, Eden got tired. So, Granddaddy also got a last hold ...

Wonder which one was the best? On second thought, who can tell the difference - holding Eden, whether first, last or in between is always a treat. Now we just have to figure out the halfway point between Baton Rouge and Mobile ...
