I borrowed Chip's 2005 Chevy Silverado and left Jackson at 9 a.m. Monday morning in order to get my office keys and find my way around Baton Rouge, at least from home to the office. The truck arrived at 1:30. By 6:00 p.m. our house looked like this ...
Ashley and Eden arrived on Tuesday afternoon. Ashley described the drive this way:
The drive down from Jackson by myself with Eden [yes, that does make sense] was an interesting one to say the least. What do you get when you mix together the following:
1) a stop to get gas, food, and feed a baby where you find the gas stations have no power and your baby isn't hungry yet
2) another stop to get gas and feed a baby where you find your baby still isn't hungry yet
3) a third stop when your baby lets you know that she is definitely hungry NOW
4) 4 more stops to calm a crying baby, help her burp, and hope that this time she'll fall asleep and one final stop to feed her a second time
5) thunderstorms all the way through Mississippi that sometimes have you driving 45 mph on the interstate
What you get is a 5-hour drive that was supposed to only take 3.
When they finally arrived, I saw Eden's outfit for the day. Apparently Eden was so excited about her Mommy and Daddy's new jobs that she decided to wear her new LSU outfit on her first day into Baton Rouge. Guess there is a law that once you enter the state of Louisiana you MUST wear purple and gold - who knew?
When we get all the boxes unpacked and the place situated, we'll post again. Till then, God Bless.
