Mommy & Eden Day

On the google calendar that Graham, Eden, and I share, every Tuesday says "Mommy & Eden Day."

Last semester, most Tuesdays turned into "Mommy and Eden Afternoon," with Eden at PDO in the morning and me working on my dissertation. Then she went to PDO a few more Tuesdays so I could tackle the craziness that was our house (or at least start to tackle it). Then we had the holidays, followed by the week getting ready for the semester, and the first week of class with trying to finish up the first lectures for my new class.

All of that said, today Eden and I finally had a real "Mommy & Eden Day." Here's Eden's day ...

  • 6:30 a.m. She woke up happy and had a bottle in bed (Eden's bed in her room). Lounged around in bed, looked out the window, relaxed until 8.

  • 8:00 a.m. Breakfast for both of us with NPR on in the background. E took her time eating yogurt and strawberries [gotta love finger food :)].

  • A little before 9, got dressed for the day. Eden was completely still while I changed her diaper and got her dressed - a definite sign it was time for a nap. Success - nap from 9 to 10! While Eden napped I was able to finish getting ready and get the bag packed. Then, we were off.

  • 10:30 Head out to run errands. Ended up near the mall around 11:30 - perfect time for a mommy-daughter lunch out at Camille's (the same restaurant as in West Lafayette). Shared a greek, chicken pizza (grilled chicken on the side for Eden). I loved the pizza; Eden loved the chicken bits and puffs ... and all the people waving back at her, smiling at her, and making googly eyes because she smiled so big and stared them down as they walked in. Enjoyed an hour-long lunch, again, gotta LUV finger food.

  • [[Side note ... how come no one tells you going out with a baby is what is must be like shopping with a celebrity?! You get stopped all the time, everyone wants to talk. It's definitely addictive and boosts the ego in a weird way to hear "Oh, she's so cute! What a happy baby!" from numerous people. Yeah, I know all babies get cute comments, but it still feels oh-so-good]]

  • [[[Side-side note: Only got a tinge of sadness because Eden's Granddaddy couldn't just drive over to meet us for lunch ... nor could her CC skip school to meet us, or Aunt Whitney bop over to shop, or my good girlfriends in Lafayette. Like I said, only a tinge of sadness, the day was too nice to let it linger]]]

  • 12:30 Back in the car to finish running errands at Wal-Mart. Plans derailed by a sleeping Eden who didn't wake up when I parked and turned the car off in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

  • Made it home, and Eden woke up as we got out of the car. Played at the house ... Eden was crawling around playing with her tennis ball - her new found love. Attempted a nap - bottle and then Eden in her crib - no crying, but she was still awake after 30 minutes. So ... quickly grabbed her bag and darted out the door to finish errands while she had a full belly. Was about the step off the porch when I realized "I still have on house shoes" - oops!

  • 2:30 Back in the car. We're on our way out, and I find myself trying to decide between going to Wal-Mart or the park. Then, I realize I must be crazy for even considering Wal-Mart .. 1) I don't really even like Wal-Mart, 2) it's 76 degrees with a breeze and sunny, and 3) Eden's awake and happy and with me!!

  • So, we head to the park and the "free zoo" - we spent at least 15 minutes standing (well, me holding Eden) at the fence to the dog park. She LUVED it! Completely mesmerized by all the dogs. Then, we hit the swings, crawled around the playground, said hello to some other babies, swings again - where Eden couldn't stop watching the older kids running around, and back to dog watching. Then we ran into our neighbors (India and Hayes) on our way out, so we headed back to the playground to visit for a bit.

Wondering why there aren't any pics yet? I forgot my camera all day. Guess, I'll just have to remember her cute little eyes sparkling as I pushed her in the swing ...

  • 4:00 Finally made it back home in time to sit on the porch and snap some photos. By 4:30, she was out ... napped until 6:00!
By the end of our day, Graham had been home for a bit, then we all had dinner and did the normal night time routine. Forgive me for writing a such long post. I just wanted to remember a really great day.
