Eden's Travels: Day 9: Playing in Mobile

During our second day in Mobile, Eden had a full day planned to meet friends. The first stop was my Mom's office to meet Debbie and Jerry (a.k.a. Buford T., Deputy Dawg) McCutchen. Debbie and Buford T. own the investment company where my Mom works and are regular blog readers.

My Mom's other co-workers are Margaret Williams and Rick Nelson, pictured here. They were also eager to meet "Nona's" first grandbaby.

Then we were off to Judy's where Eden met Debbie Gunn and Judy Gray. Debbie makes cute baby clothes. She made a christening hat, bibs, and burb cloths for Eden. She also made a cute bottle cover that is about to come in very handy. My Mom has known Judy for 20+ years; she and Mom have been friends for a long, long time, and Judy is the one who makes Mom's nails look gorgeous. Her husband also makes the best honey mustard in the continental US (which Eden loved when she was still Bebe).

Then, we were back home for some food and a little fun with Aunt Sarah.

Later that afternoon, Rose King stopped by for a vist. Rose helped raise me and my two sisters. She encouraged Sarah to talk (Sarah would not talk for the first 4 years or so of her life) and taught her how to hide important things belonging to her siblings when we were mean to her. We also think that Rose is responsible for Sarah's love of playing April Fool's jokes on people, but we have no proof for that.

Eden especially had fun showing Rose how she can laugh when I steal her sugars.

That night, Lynn Dossett came over for dinner. I started working for Lynn when I was 16. He was the manager and head mechanic at a Chevron station in Mobile. My friend, Jesse Whitfield, had already been working there for 6 months, so I'm not sure why I was hired ... but I was. In any case, I worked at that gas station for over two years before heading to Auburn for college. Lynn taught me so much about life (and cars, but mostly life) and was an unbiased ear that would always listen ... and tell me what I needed to hear even though it might not be what I wanted to hear.

Although a busy day, we are certainly thankful that all these special people had the chance to meet Eden.
