old clothes

Who would have ever thought old clothes would be so much fun?

A few weeks ago (January 7 to be exact, a few days before Eden's 10 monthday), I decided to pull out the "non-maternity" bin from underneath the bed to try to find something to wear. Last year, when I finally couldn't wear any of my regular clothes anymore, I put them all in a big bin and pushed 'em under the bed. I figured I just didn't need the "distraction" in my closet. Well, I'd pulled this bin out before in the past few months with no success so my hopes were low. I thought I'd try a pair of jeans and ... they fit. For real. A before-I-was-ever-pregnant pair of jeans and I wore them comfortably all day long.

Now, it's not all my pre-pregnancy clothes. It's not even most. But it's some. And some is better than none. It's just nice to feel like myself.

When I started wearing real clothes (not "4th trimester clothes") over the summer, I was up 3 sizes. Not a huge big deal but I didn't really feel like myself. I've heard the 9 months up - 9 months down philosophy, and I'm now a believer. In my case with about one more size to go, it looks like it'll be 12 months down, but that's fine by me. I mean, I tried to be a bit healthy over the past 10 months, but I'll admit I never really "worked out." Who has time with a new baby, new house, new job, and finishing school?

I haven't even met my new year's resolution to do my pilates video at least one time this year. Hey, I've got a long time to make that goal. But I do squats with a nearly 20-pound weight every single day - that's my kind of exercise.

Way to go!!! It makes me feel so much better to know that it's okay that I'm still up a few sizes :-) Thanks for the inspiration!

That's awesome! Thanks for being honest and realistic about it - there's just nothing more emotionally deflating than hearing, "oh, i wore my skinny jeans home from the hospital!"

And if you think about it, it means that you'll have a whole new wardrobe since no one in BR has ever seen your old clothes! :)
