Eden's First Word

For a while now, Eden has been saying Dada and Mama; however, these utterances have been voiced in the context of "nana," "da-da-da-da-da,"ohaphaoaha," and other such phrases. So, we did not really have any grand notions of her knowing exactly what she was saying. Until now.

This morning, as I was putting Eden in her carseat to go to PDO, she looked directly at me and said, "Da-Da." Then, she smiled. It sure did seem like she knew what she was saying.

Of course, I had to call Ashley and tell her the news. The first thing out of her mouth: "Are you sure?" "Yes. She said Da-Da then smiled. We had a moment," I replied. Ashley went on to conceed the point, saying that it could have happened since it was directed at me. (Side note: We have an understanding that Eden does not officially do anything for the first time if we are not both present to witness it. This rule does not, however, apply to actions directed only to one parent. So, her first word actually happened. It's official).

So, that's it. Dada was her first word. It's settled. Now, what will be her second? Any votes?
