The weekend before last, Ashley went to Jackson for her Mom's birthday. I stayed in LA to get work done [although I think I lost some "child in law points" for that decision - but it's still going to be hard for the others to catch up with someone who provided the first grandchild :)]

This was the tail-end of Eden's "why-are-you-leaving-me" phase. Ashley reports that after spending some time with Aunt Whitney, Eden would immediately start to cry as soon as Whitney put her down. This was also the beginning of her "I love tennis balls" phase. She showed everyone how she can throw.

Whitney cooked a gourmet meal - pecan-encrusted talapia, couscous, shrip cocktail, and salad. Britton and Courtney made delicious bread pudding. Ashley failed to bring me leftovers ... perhaps there were none ...

The next day after church, the family hit Chip's favorite restaurant these days -- Ichiban. Ashley reports it was a really nice weekend and really nice that all of her immediate family was together to celebrate her Mom. More evidence of how nice it is to be living closer to family.
