my mother's day

To celebrate Mother's Day this year, Graham, Eden, and I got to spend the whole day together. We started the day with a yummy breakfast - cream cheese grits, bacon, and fruit. Then watched CBS Sunday morning while Eden had the first half of her nap. We had plannned on visiting a new church, but since Miss Eden was getting over a little cold, we ended up watching church on TV while Eden finished out her nap. It was actually very relaxing. Church in your pajamas - a nice way to spend the morning.

She definitely knows her flower sign now (sniffing your nose). She's been doing it everytime she sees the peonies "she" gave me for mother's day. Of course, when she actually had it in her reach, she decided to play shy ...

For most of the day, the peonies sat on the dining room table. Yes, there was a bit of an end-of-semester mess around, but this was honestly what I saw ..

Just ask Graham, I have an incredible gift of being able to tune out mess. I literally just don't see it. And then it will hit me all at once - I'll look around and go "When did it get to be such a wreck in here?" Yes, I know you're jealous, but you just have to be born with this kind of gift ;).

Back on topic ...

The peonies did eventually find a more permanent home. How is it that a few flowers can make you so happy each time you see them?

Of course we had to spend some time outside ...

But the best part of the day happened when I went into Eden's room first thing in the morning to get her out of bed and she had a card waiting for me on the corner rail of her crib. She even "read" it to me as we sat on her big bed.

Graham won't reveal Eden's secrets (guess that is a good thing) and isn't telling how she was able to pick out such a perfect card. I think in this case it's fine. They make a pretty good team.
