Bronchiolitis (n.) - an infection of the small air passages in the lung, usually caused by a virus.
It started with signs of a common cold - runny nose, slight cough.
Then, on Thursday, she was weezing quite a bit and had run a fever the night before. So, I stayed home in the a.m. while Ashley prepared to come home for the afternoon shift. On her way back from the office, Ashley called and said, "I think I should take her to the doctor, just to let them take a look." "Okay," I replied.
Good thing, too. Ashley came home with two prescriptions and a breathing machine ... not the fun it sounds.
Eden's temp was down until this morning - 101.9; Motrin made it go down to about 99, and thankfully tonight she had a great 98.6.
Our new schedule?
- Make sure to give 1/2 teaspoon of Azithromycin once per day.
- Every 3-4 hours, hook Eden up to the breathing machine (which she just loves).
- Sit there for 10 minutes figuring out new ways to distract her attention from the fact she has to breathe fumes for 10 minutes through a mask that is about half the size of her face. And they say medicine is advanced!
- Check diapers for wetness to make sure she is not dehydrated (which has not happend yet).
- Feed (but not too much).
- Put Eden down for a nap. Listen for weezing. Another breathing treatment.
You get the picture.
But, despite all this, she's still extremely happy after one day of wanting to be held alot. This morning she even happily played by herself in her pack 'n play, something she hated to do even just a few weeks ago.
Overall, she's a good patient. And, we're told should be back to being fully healthy by next week.

Ah yes, the breathing machine! Be patient. It too will pass. We are thinking of you and remembering those days.
We haven't had to experience the breathing machine, but I'm sure it is not a lot of fun! Hope she feels better soon...regardless, she still looks precious to me!
The breathing treatments have a tendency to leave them with red, chapped cheeks. We've found Aveeno Soothing Relief Moisture Cream to be a big help for chapped cheeks. Hope she's feeling better soon.
