the wedding

After Savannah we had a little time to rest and get ready for the big ceremony. Jesse and Megan said their vows in a quaint chapel in Palmetto Bluff, a 65,000 acre plantation turned resort. The ceremony started (in true Whitfield style, 20 minutes late) with the normal progression of attendants. Unique to this ceremony, however, was the inclusion of Sadi, Jesse and Megan's yellow lab, as an attendant. After the wedding party was set, a four member singing group broke into This Little Light of Mine, the doors shut, and Jesse's face lit up.

The ceremony was nice and reflected well the bride and goom. They walked out to Oh Happy Day, and we were met with an umbrella covered walk to the reception located in the Inn at Palmeto Bluff.

The Inn was absolutely georgous. Everything from the courtyards to the curtains seemed perfect. When we got to the porch upstairs we were met with some Mason-Dixons - ice tea infused vodka mixed with a bit of lemonade. Yum!

The dinner was also excellent. There were 8 people to each of 11 tables. We watched as the servers danced from their entry door to the exit and in the middle simultaneously place four plates down at a time (2 performances at each table). They did this for nearly 2 hours and 5 courses.

After some dancing to Deas Guyz (and an amazing performance of Jimmi Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner - yes, he did play the guitar with his teeth), those left went down to the fire pits for smores and campfire songs.

Overall, it was a great weekend. We're happy to have shared it with Jesse and Megan ... Congrats to the lucky couple!
