On Wednesday, I woke up feeling under the weather. By Thursday, it was a full-blown head cold. Eden joined the party that day, too. So, it was time to pull out the humidifier. Of course, neither Ashley nor I remembered until after Eden was asleep. Ashley came in the bedroom right as I was going to bed to remind me. We had a mission!
Ashley went in first and quietly rummaged around the closet - I had apparently put an old toy on top of it ... oops. She came out, took off the tank, and handed me my assignment - plug it in without waking Eden while she filled the water and vick's.
I really was quiet. Of course the plug I had set my sight on was right by her crib (even though Ashley suggested one that was across the room, but then we wouldn't have this cool post, but I digress). I put down the towel and then the humidifier base. I found the extension cord under the crib. I heard some movement but no noise from E. When I looked up a minute later there was a little hand protruding from the crib ... then her classic wave. As if to say, "Hi, Dad. No need to be quiet. I'm awake." Very subtle.
Soon after the humidifer was plugged in, Eden was sitting up looking around at all the fuss. It didn't take Ashley long to comfort her and put her back to sleep. Then we had a good laugh. We're still laughing.
