working toward retirement

Last weekend (the first weekend of our Spring Break), Ashley packed up the car and took Eden to her Grandaddy's and CC's. Ashley was helping her mom put together invitations for CC's retirement party in May (28 years as an English teacher).

This was the first trip that Ashely packed books instead of toys. Eden loves books. Reading them. Having them read to her. Flipping the pages. Finding puppies and kitties. Anything and everything to do with books.

On Sunday, they went to church. Eden wore her Easter dress even though it was a week early. Hey, why not? She's cute!

As you can see above, Eden has started to let go as she's standing up. It's only for a second at a time but she's definitely getting more sure of herself.

After church, she fell asleep in the car on the way back home ... so sweet when she's asleep! Sometimes, she takes Ms. Georgia, puts her by her head, and uses her as a pillow. She slept 30 minutes from Babies-R-Us to the house ... that's it. No nap in the morning because the church nursery was too interesting. No other nap later in the afternoon. She usually naps 3 or more hours per day ... guess there were so many exciting things going on to sleep.
That afternoon, everyone was hanging out by the pool on the deck. Her Grandaddy was doing yardwork but couldn't quite get everything done since Eden kept waving and smiling at him. So, he took a break (or 12). On one of those breaks, Eden became fascinated with his sunglasses.

The funniest thing was her reaction ... how she cracked up when she would put them on. Guess things look funny through those glasses.

After all that play and only 30 minutes of naptime, it was time to wind down early. Eating picnic style is a nice way to end the night ... of course, she wants to keep playing and not take a bath, but I guess there are worse things.
On Monday, Ashley packed up the car and met her parents at Chick-Fil-A (one of Eden's favorite places). Here she is kicked back in her highchair - her new favorite way to relax and watch people in the restaurant.
When they came back I could tell I was missed. Both Ashley and Eden were clinging to my leg. Of course, Ashley had to let go to take a picture of Eden ...
I missed them terribly, but in their absence I got some time to catch up on a few projects that have been sitting on my desk for several months now. Since that week was Spring Break, we got to sleep in, and I got to play with Eden in the mornings (most times I'm up and out of the door before she wakes). Plus, it was nice to see how much she missed her Daddy :).
