over the weekend

This past weekend we made the trip to Mobile for my sister Sarah's graduation from PA school. We left the house around noon with high hopes that Eden would fall fast asleep and enjoy a nice long nap for most of the 3-hour drive. We also made the fatal mistake of feeding her in the car ... apparently that food had magical wake up powers because by two hours and no nap later we had to stop and let her get out and release some energy.

We did finally make it (and in time for graduation). Eden and Ashley spent the ceremony strolling and roaming the halls, exploring new places, and making friends. It was short (only 30 minutes total), and Eden was a great sport for pictures.

The next day Eden woke up around 6:30. Her Nona was up soon after and helped her play with her new gifts from her Great Aunt Beverly, including making food for and feeding her new pig ...

For about 2 minutes or so Eden pointed to a box and grunted. So, I got out the turtle pool floatie (although my parents do not have a pool). She sat in it and got pulled around the house ... what fun! So fun, in fact, that it was her toy of choice for the remainder of the weekend.

After a fun-filled day inside riding the turtle (while it periodically rained outside), it was time for some outside time. Big Daddy obliged with bubbles (and relaxed with about 6 of the new books from Beverly).

While we were having fun in Mobile, Ashley spent the day in Pensacola visiting her Whitney, Boston, and her parents who just happened to be driving through on the same day. More about that later. On Sunday, we left Mobile around 12:30. Ashley decided she would drive (given two hours of book reading, singing, and crying that happened on Friday), so I sat in the back for entertainment. We stopped for gas and got on the interstate ... Eden was asleep before the 65-10 split (which is about 5 miles). Interesting.

We ended up making a get-out-your-energy stop at a McAlister's on the way, where Eden ran around waving at people and made a new friend by pointing to her head and waving at a man with an LSU baseball cap on. She of course had to get her hat and show it to him. His whole group was quite impressed. Eventually, we made it home and starting resting up for our next big trip this weekend.
