I'm a rester.

Ever wonder why there aren't very many pics of Ashley and Eden on the Blog? There seem to be 3 main reasons for this:
  1. Ashley loves to take pictures.

  2. I always forget about taking pictures.

  3. Eden is a "rester."

Never heard of a rester?

According to researchers at Yale, babies can be categorized into 5 types of eaters. Barracudas "get right down to business." Excited inneffectives get "too excited" at the sight of Mom's breast necessitating her to calm baby down before nursing can commence. Procrastinators cannot be bothered with eating until the milk comes in (so they don't really eat for a few days). Gourmets/mouthers taste the milk, smack their lips, etc. Finally, there are resters who "prefer to nurse for a few minutes, rest a few minutes, some nap for half an hour or so and then awake ready for dessert."

That's Eden ... our little rester.

She nurses a few minutes, rests, then comes back for dessert (and, sometimes this happens 2-3 times within a session). With a minimum of 8 feedings a day, that leads to quite a bit of our time where either Ashley and Eden are not picture-ready or where I'm giving Eden a bottle and obviously can't take any photos.

Basically, a rester is analogous to going out for a great meal where you eat, then talk, then eat some more, and talk, ... Of course, Ashley can't blame Eden. That's how she likes to eat a good meal; a good meal usually lasts Ashley at least an hour. In fact, we think it comes from Chip, Ashley's Dad, whose favorite saying about food is, "I just want a little taste, just a taste." So, perhaps it's hereditary ... anyone interested in that research?

Nevertheless, Ashley and Eden DO spend A LOT of time together; despite the odds I've taken some photos to document.
