May Travels: CC's Retirement Tea

Even with running a fever and not eating all that well, Eden did surprisingly well on the 6+ hour car ride from Destin to Jackson. After we stopped in Mobile, she and Ashley slept pretty much the entire time on Hwy 98 to Hattiesburg. And Eden's CC sure was happy to see her (and Eden was glad that CC had on a flower)!

The reason we made the long car ride was because Christy's colleagues and friends decided to throw her a retirement party to celebrate her 28 years of educating the future of Mississippi. And a bright future she has provided, teaching several generations of children the ins and outs of grammar and literature!

Gotta love how Eden is saying hello to Hannah (daughter of Whitney's friends Andy and Colby) by touching her shoulder to get her attention ...

Of course, Eden couldn't resist showing everyone her new mad walking skills ...

[Editor's Note: I love the above photo because it shows Eden's eagerness to just get down and go.]
... and posing for a picture with her Granddaddy.

The party was a hit, and nearly the entire population of Rankin county came to help celebrate. Besides Eden, the biggest hit were the strawberries (and Eden should know, she ate 6 or so).

Ashley helped with the celebration by creating a slideshow for everyone to see, making the invitations, and the program for the party. I helped by providing Eden's CC with an unofficial official membership to TEAL - the Typo Eradication Advancement League (they cannot give official memberships legally because they cannot promote people changing others' property by fixing typos) - CC loved the gift. Overall, we were happy to be able to there and to help celebrate CC's retirement.
