self-portrait tuesday

Last week, I was inspired by my friend Maren's blog and this wonderful self portrait she had with her new son Cole. Maren almost always does a self portrait on Tuesdays, and as someone who more often than not ends up taking the picture than being in it I thought self portrait Tuesdays for the summer would be a good idea. Since Eden and I are spending the summer together (making up for a super stressful dissertation summer last year where a few weeks I found myself only coming out of the home office to nurse!), a weekly photo that I'm actually in sounds like a good thing to do.

Here's today's shot ... checking out pictures of birds and fish on the National Geographic website and checking up on the twins. Eden has recently really started to notice and sign for all the birds she sees so I thought this would keep her attention for a bit. It did.

And, the self portrait from last week that I never put up ...

Our little perceptive Miss Eden has figured out that smiling is something you do with your eyes. Pretty stinkin' cute if you ask me, and you can imagine how it can melt my heart when she *smiles* at me. Made me laugh to realize that this is what my sister was doing in all those cute shots when she was little.

Thank you, Maren, for the inspiration. I know I'll treasure having these photos.
