weekend of weddings

Well, our staycation is officially over. Eden was slightly reluctant to leave, but after a month at home we were finally out of Baton Rouge and on our way to Jackson around 10 a.m. last Thursday. Eden was a bit sleepy while we were trying to pack up the car, so she wiggled down on the pillows and zoned out for about 10 minutes to Sesame Street as we loaded things up ...

The reason we left was to attend two weddings, each in a different location. The first stop was Montgomery, Alabama on Friday and the rehearsal dinner/party of Trey Norris and Kim Campbell. We left Eden with her Grandaddy and Granmommy-CC and hit the road around 10 for a 5 hour trek through the backroads of Alabama.

It was, however, well worth it. Not only did Ashley get to meet several old college buddies of mine and I get to catch up with folks I had not seen in a while (in some cases almost a decade!), but the rehearsal dinner was actually a party ... complete with live music and all.

On Saturday morning, we woke up around 7:30 and had breakfast together before Ashley got back into the car for another 5 hours to Jackson then 2 hours to just south of Brookhaven to see her cousin Cass Brister marry Jenny Smith.

As she told me later, that was well worth it too as she got to hang out with family and Eden got to play with her cousins of hand-me-down clothing fame, Fable and Ever Rodgers.

Although Ashley and Eden enjoyed playing in the church's nursery during the actual ceremony, there was time to visit with family at the reception. Here they are trying to get four girls in one photo and taking pics with The Great Aunt Kathy, the mother of the groom.

Although it was a rather long weekend, we had fun getting to see and hang out with friends and family. While we lived in Indiana on graduate student budgets, the weddings we were able to attend were few-and-far between. Yes, we say this alot, but we are certainly glad to be closer to everyone and be able to get away when we want.
