zoo

Now that Eden has really started to become fascinated with animals (making sounds, wanting you to turn back the page in the book because she has not barked or mooed or howled or signed bird enough), we thought it was time to try the zoo again. If you remember, our last stint was not successful. This time, she stayed awake!

Upon our arrival she began to get very excited (which we could tell by her grunting and pointing) ... at the sight of the sign for the zoo (which also happens to have animals on it).
Once inside, she was mesmerized by everything. We saw ...

birds ...

(flapping her hands, her sign for bird)

... warthogs, impalas, and bongos ...

... monkeys ...

... and, at the children's zoo, a variety of donkeys, goats, sheep, lamb, rabbits ...

... and, of course, COWS!
(making her *moo* sound which of course means pursing your lips together)
Eden even got to brush a goat ... brushing is one of her favorite things! We think the goat enjoyed it, too.

We stayed about an hour and a half, and Eden was entertained the entire time. Although we took the stroller, she did not really want to sit in it ... Ashley had to have a few "talks" ("Eden. We're about to walk to see more animals. If you get in your stroller we will get there quicker.") which seemed to calm her down. When we left, we became "Friends of the Zoo" entitling us to go for free all year! We can also take guests. Anyone want to come visit us so they can go to the zoo? It's our treat!
