May Travels: Hanging out at CC & Grandaddy's

After the party, we went to Eden's favorite place in Rankin county ... her Granddaddy and CC's! Eden caught some much needed zs and woke up in quite a good mood for someone who had now been sick with an on and off fever for a few days.

It was about this time that we realized Eden had learned that if she wanted something and the person holding her would not give it to her (or take her to it), then she would simply ask for someone else and begin pointing again. So, for example, if she wanted to go outside, she would point. If the person holding her said, "No. We're not going outside right now," then Eden would hold her arms out for the closest substitute.
If that substitue happened to be a grandparent ... well, you can't say no to your first grandchild can you, especially when she's sick?

"Take me to your garden, Granddaddy!"

"Okay, sugar. See the pretty flowers?"
Eden's response ... Sniff. Pull. Bite. Yum!
"Give the flower to Grandaddy."
She has also gotten quite good playing peek-a-boo ...
... and at feeding other people food that they would have otherwise fed themselves. This particular meal was a mix of fruit and yogurt. Not really something that Chip would normally eat with his hands. But, again, who can say no to their first grandchild? Plus, it sure is fun to see Eden's face when she is feeding you and you are making faces that signal how good the meal is .. priceless, indeed. Of course, the meal usually requires several extra napkins and perhaps an extra shower, but well worth it.

So by this point, we had taken Eden to the MEA clinic and determined that it was not a smart idea to take her to Chicago on planes and in airports with potentially hundreds of infectious germs. We called the airline to change Ashley's itinerary and figured out what to pack in my suitcase and what Ashley would bring with her to Indiana five days later ... but I'm getting ahead of myself ... first, Ashley and Eden had to miss me!
