a few questions

So, I've asked Graham these questions and yes they are random, but I'd like some other opinions ...

Are you supposed to "nap while your baby naps" when your baby is over a year old?

That was the first thought that went through my head as I crawled onto the couch after Eden went down for her morning nap one day last week. Over the years, I've often found myself telling Graham that if you can lie down and actually go to sleep, not fight it or stay awake, that you should let yourself sleep for a bit because you need it. Well, I used that thought process for myself. Before I knew it, it was and hour and a half later and it felt like I'd only been on the couch for a few minutes.

It was only day two of a month of being at home, not teaching, and Eden not being at PDO (making up for a yucky over-worked, dissertation summer last year). Am I just already worn out :)?

Is 2.5 hours too long?

So, I know my thinking/frustration is probably impacted by all those fancy-shmancy washers and dryers that are on those commercials these days strutting their 36-minute drying cycles BUT should it really take 2 and a half hours to dry a normal sized load of a few jeans and regular clothes?!!

I've known for awhile that it takes a long time to do laundry in this rental house. I'm dealing with an older stacked washer/dryer, but I had rationalized for awhile that I just wasn't paying attention to when the loads actually finished or that I'd set the dryer to go when I was about to go to bed.

Well, one day last week I paid attention. I started the dryer when Eden and I had lunch and when we returned from a playdate two hours later it was still going!

I mean, really, how long does your dryer take? No, seriously, I really do want to know.

You are too funny!

1. You are totally allowed to nap when baby naps, even when said baby is over 1 year. I'm finding that they exhaust you just as much as they get older--it's just a different type of exhaustion than when they are baby babies getting up all the time.

2. That seems really long to me. I'm surprised it didn't turn itself off before that. A normal load for us probably take 45 minutes to an hour to dry and we just have a standard washer and dryer--although I do get washer and dryer envy when I see those commercials--does that make me old?

Hugs to Eden from her buddy Grace!

Yes, napping when your kids nap, no matter how old they are, is always a good thing. ;)

And that is a really long drying time. My dryer takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes to dry a load of jeans, an hour or less for any other regular load. My mom's dryer dries just about anything in an hour. Clean the lint trap and vacuum inside that area if you can. Also check the vents to the outside, they could be blocked or your vent hose may be kinked or full of lint (dryers are often the cause of house fires)

It also may be that the heating element is going out. Open the dryer after it has run for awhile and see if the clothes are hot.

YES!! Nap whenever you can! Eden and Bo are both at this nonstop age. Bo NEVER sits still, I think Eden does a much better job at this than he does. It's exhausting! Happy Napping!
